Today, Aug 15th is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. As a reminder, it is a Holy day of Obligation for us Catholics. There will be masses at 8:30am and 7pm.
The Assumption of Mary into Heaven, often shortened to the Assumption and also known as the Feast of Saint Mary the Virgin, mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Falling Asleep of the Blessed Virgin Mary, according to the beliefs of our church was the bodily taking up of the Virgin Mary into Heaven at the end of her earthly life.
